Mountaineering, climbing & skiing in the region of the Gesaeuse National Park
The region around the Gesaeuse National Park is one of the most outstanding mountain areas in the Eastern Alps. Alpine history was written in the "University of Mountaineering" (K. Maix) and activities in the limestone gray giant walls are among the highlights of every alpinist. The range of tours is as diverse as the region itself and ranges from enjoyable climbing in moderate difficulty to technically demanding plaisir routes.
The Gesäuse Mountains offer a paradise for climbers, skiers and mountaineers. In 2002, especially because of its beauty and the diversity of nature, the Gesaeuse became a national park. The main location is Admont, also known historically from the Benedictine Abbey. From there you reach almost every starting point and also the smaller national park communities like Johnsbach, Gstatterboden or Hieflau in less than 30 minutes(by car).
